Food Safety: What we do is important

U.S. Foodservice selectors and drivers do more than “deliver the groceries.” They play a critical role in protecting the safety of our nation’s food supply. Our employees are committed to food safety and tare trained to protect the safety of food in our warehouses and trucks.

  • First distributor to publicly support the Food Safety Enhancement Act of 2009. • Our companywide response to recalls is thebest in the industry.
  • Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) certified employees than any other distributor.
  • Committed to meeting or exceeding FDA and USDA requirements.
  • Every USF truck is subject to temperature testing throughout the delivery cycle to ensure all food remains at safe temperatures from its arrival at our warehouse until delivery to our customers.

How we do it counts too

With 6,000 trucks on the road every day, we want to minimize the impact of our business on the environment. In 2008, we implemented recommendations from the Environmental Defense Fund to help cut the environmental impact of our operations. By using new business practices, driver policies and truck technologies, we reduced our CO2 emissions by 22,000 metric tons per year—equivalent to taking 4,400 cars off the road.

A great place to grow

  • We have created a positive work environment that offers challenging careers and growth opportunities.
  • 20% (or 1 in 5) of U.S Foodservice’s supervisors and managers began their U.S. Foodservice careers as hourly employees such as a driver, or in one of our warehouses.
