STRENGTHENING COMMUNITIES

U.S. Foodservice gives back to the communities where we work and live. Each year, we donate time, food products and equipment to Feeding America and its more than 200 affiliated food banks to help fight hunger. Feeding America, the nation’s largest hunger-relief organization, is our charity of choice.

  • From July 2008 to June 2009, we donated nearly 5 million pounds of food.
  • Last year the company raised more than $4 million in product and financial contributions for Feeding America to help feed children and families.
  • Recent donation to affiliated foodbanks include:
    • Our Detroit division delivered 8 tons of food products to the Mid-Michigan Food Bank in April 2009.
    • The Salem, Missouri division provided 700 meals per day to residents after a devastating storm in May 2009.
    • Our Minnesota division rallied its partners to donate a combined 12.5 tons of much needed food to Second Harvest Heartland in August 2009.
    • The Atlanta division donated three forklift trucks to the Atlanta Community Food Bank in September, 2009.
